This movie comes from the Rajshri Banner and usual music director Ramlaxman composes for this multi-star cast movie which was released in 1999. There were a few events that happened during its making. Ramlaxman didn?t want to compose for this movie because he felt that he won?t do justice to the music. Sooraj Barjatya persuaded him and then he composed the tunes. Uttam Singh, who was previously the assistant of Ramlaxman, didn?t work on this album because he was already a music director after the super hit?Dil to Pagal Hai?
His absence in the album is felt with the orchestration. Lata Mangeskhar didn?t sing for Ramlaxman because of some composer-singer problems or maybe because of too many stars.
Salman Khan?s unprofessional behaviour during the shooting made the director angry. He was sometimes late and even got himself trapped into a hunting scandal in 1998. After super hits like?Maine Pyar Kiya?
(MPK) and?Hum Aapke Hain Kaun!?(HAHK), a lot was expected from Ramlaxman. He composed the tunes keeping in mind the storyline. This is why we don?t see songs coming from no-where in the movie. All the songs have a meaning to the story.
The album has seven songs. ABCDEFGHI?- Hariharan, Hema Sardesai, Shankar Mahadevan, Udit Narayan & Saif Ali Khan Lyrics: Mitali Shashank Well for sure, it?s a song which all kids liked and will like. The media argued that this song is mediocre but the script demanded such a song. Adults may not like it but imagine the 3-year old, say fatso Raju, jumping and singing while watching this song!
The song is catchy and Saif Ali Khan just says some lines here and there. Lyrics are very nice.
How can RamLaxman convert these letters into a tune? This has been rarely attempted. When I first heard this song, I really liked it because the song was beautifully composed so that all the letters are in the tune. However to my great amazement, this song is a rip-off from a Spanish tune in a movie in 1974 ( iespana.es/i2fs/).
It?s the same tune note for note. Ramlaxman had already found this song and just added the words were to it. Innovation here because they didn?t add?dil-sanam-kasam? To this song like Sameer would have done but transformed it into a song for kids. The bad thing is that he plagiarized a tune while composing for a big banner like Rajshri. Chhote Chhote Bhaiyon Ke? Kavita K, Udit Narayan & Kumar Sanu Lyrics: Dev Kohli Nothing much can be said about this song because the title says almost everything.
Situational song which carries some nice lyrics. Hum Saath Saath Hain - Hariharan, Anuradha Paudwal, Kumar Sanu & Alka Yagnik Lyrics: Dev Kohli The title song is nicely sung and has a wonderful tune.
Unlike the other songs, this one is quite modern. Two or there notes from the piano are used very often and makes it a sure winner. All the singers get a chance to sing 2-3 lines and they give their best. The interludes are nice as well.

The song carries the same feeling as the?Hum Aapke Hain Kaun? Title song sung by S.P Balasupramaniem and Lata Mangeshkar. Title song is much better. Maiyya Yashoda? Kavita K, Alka Yagnik & Anuradha Paudwal Lyrics: R Kiran This is a typical situational song. Three good female singers in one song!
(Very rare these days). It is picturised on the three heroines singing and dancing. Interestingly, once again, the blend of North-Indian instruments is really amazing here.
Ramlaxman did a really good job. The singers sing the song at ease matching the heroines? Characters in the movie. Lyrics are quite good. The song has a 80s? However, Kavita gets to the sing the best lines and outstands the rest. Kavita K, Hariharan, Anuradha, K Sanu, Alka Yagnik & Udit Narayan Lyrics: R Kiran The best song of the album.
The tune is catchy and sounds like South-Indian. Ramlaxman uses many instruments and blend them beautifully.
Although Kumar Sanu sounds odd in this song, all other singers are good. Lyrics are good and once again, orchestration is very nice.
The song has a nice rhythm and I remember that the picturization was great. Sunoji Dulhan Ek Baat Sunoji? Roop Kumar Rathod, Pratima Rao, Udit Narayan, Kavita K, Sonu Nigam Lyrics: Ravinder Rawal This song is a pot-puri and is common in family entertainers and in Rajshri movies. The song is an attempt to introduce the different people in the family.
The presenter will sing the?Sunoji.? And then each introduced person will sing a song which best describe them.
Some of the songs chosen are quite common in pot-puris. Interesting songs include?Papa kehte hain? By Udit Narayan,?Mera piya ghaar aya? From Yaraana and?Ankhiyan Milaon? Some of the songs are bits and pieces from HAHK sung by the children.
The song is nearly 12 minutes. However the?Sunoji? Tune is good. This pot-puri is good because there is an original tune which starts off the long song.
As far as I remember, it?s Shakti Kapoor who starts the song. Yeh To Sach Hai Ki Bhagwan Hai - Hariharan, Ghansham Vaswani, Pratima Rao, Santosh Tiwari Lyrics: Ravinder Rawal This song describes how our parents are great and?bhagwan?
In this song means our parents. It has a sad tune. Those who are far from their parents, may think of them.
However, for those who are near, some may want to go and hug them! HariHaran does justice to this song and sings it passionately expressing himself the love, he has for his parents. This song?s lyrics show how beautiful the Indian culture is. Ravinder Rawal really impresses here.

It also shows how children are well-mannered, cultivated and show respect for parents. The song carries pieces of piano, saxophone, harmonica and finishes with accordion, usual Ramlaxman instrument. Overall, the album doesn?t disappoint at all.
Although you are not looking for romantic songs, the songs provide a sense of love, affection, trust and respect for parents and relatives. These songs are quite rare. The director knows that the songs are situational and will work in the movie to express feelings. So he didn?t care too much about whether they will be hits on their own. The songs will be best appreciated after watching the movie.
Although sales of this album were lower than HAHK and MPK, the songs were enjoyed by many music lovers. The folk songs are catchy. Ramlaxman shows that he can deliver what the director wants. He also proves that he can use so many instruments in a song without creating a cacophony. There is variety of instruments used although the formula for the songs is more feel-good, crying, and emotional- family oriented.
For sure, we won?t expect a song like?ABCDEFGHI? And?Yeh to sach hain? To rock the charts, but the songs were felt by the heart by so many viewers who saw themselves or someone they know in the movie.
